I encountered an error when attempting to submit time entries through the mCDR (mobile Cost Data Recording) application: The operation couldn't be completed. Cost head must be set up for Trade 'xxx' for Employee 'xxx' with HR Sequence xxxx in CDR error 3

Symptoms:

  • The time submission process halts completely

  • Users cannot proceed past the submission stage

  • The error occurs specifically within the mCDR application

  • Error references missing cost head setup for specific trade and employee combinations

Resolution Steps:

  1. Locate the Standard Cost Type associated with the Cost Type being used on the affected job

  2. Access the Standard Cost Type configuration

  3. Change the status from closed to open/active

  4. Ensure that data synchronisation occurs between the main system and the mobile application

  5. Allow sufficient time for the data refresh to complete

  6. Test time submission functionality in mCDR

  7. Confirm that users can now proceed without encountering the error.

Note: This issue typically resolves immediately once the Standard Cost Type is reopened and the mobile data is refreshed
