Ireland Pension Auto-Enrolment - Initial Setup

Setting Up the MyFuture Fund Pension Scheme

  1. Navigate to Payroll > Global Setup > Pensions

  2. Create a new pension scheme for MyFuture Fund

  3. Configure the following settings:

    • Tax Deductible: No (employee pension not deducted from taxable pay)

    • Employee Deduction: Percentages set on individual employees

    • Employer Deduction: Percentages set on individual employees

    • Based On: GROSS (locked to company gross pay item)

    • Alternative Employee Item: Select a unique item for MyFuture Fund employee contributions

    • Alternative Employer Item: Select a unique item for MyFuture Fund employer contributions

    • Do not set an AVC item

    • Do not set maximum pensionable pay amounts

    The employee and employer contribution items must:

    • Not be used on any other pension scheme.

    • Not be included in ROS payroll submission reporting.

Configuring Parameters

  1. Navigate to Payroll > Global Setup > Parameters.

  2. In the MFFSCHEME parameter, enter the pension scheme number you created for MyFuture Fund.

This parameter cannot be company specific.

Updating Item Sequences

  1. Navigate to Payroll > Global Setup > Item Sequences.

  2. From 2026 onwards, ensure your employee sequences include the MyFuture Fund employee and employer contribution items. Coins ERP+ will validate this when checking sequences.

Setting Up Event Types

  1. Navigate to Payroll > Global Setup > Lookup Codes.

    Coins ERP+ automatically creates lookup codes for Ireland AEPN event types (code: IEAUTO).

    Available Event Types:

    • AE - Auto Enrolment

    • OO - Opt Out

    • SUS - Suspension

    • E - Enrolment

    • AEL - AEL Breach

    • NYR - Next Financial Year Post AEL Breach

    • CRC - Contribution Rate Change

    • LEFT - Left Employment Initiation

    • NONE - No AEPN

  2. For each event type, you can configure:

    1. Mail Merge: Tick this box if you want to send formal notifications to employees for this event type.

    2. Payslip Message: Enter a template message to appear on payslips when this event occurs

      Payslip Message Tokens

      You can use the following tokens in payslip messages:

      • [YR] - Event year

      • [NEXTYR] - Year following event year

      • [ENROLDATE] - Enrolment date

      • [ISSUEDATE] - AEPN issue date

      • [EEPERC] - Employee contribution percentage

      • [ERPERC] - Employer contribution percentage

      • [ENDDATE] - Pension end date

      Example Message

      You have been auto-enrolled in MyFuture Fund from [ENROLDATE]. You will contribute [EEPERC] and your employer will contribute [ERPERC] of your gross pay.

Testing Connectivity

Before processing your first pay period, test your connection to NAERSA.

  1. Navigate to Payroll > Global Functions > ROS Workbench.

  2. Select the employer registration number line item.

  3. Select the arrow in the dropdown Test Connectivity to ROS action field.

  4. Select Test Connectivity to NAERSA.

  5. Select
