Support - Assume User ID

Updated over 2 months ago

Assume User ID allows support users to assume the identity of another user provided they have appropriate security settings. This is intended for support users to log in as another user to check what that user is experiencing.

If the user whose ID is being assumed is currently logged in, they will be logged out.

SYSAdmin user and root group are both banned from being assumed. SYSAdmin user can assume any other user.

Location : System > User Maintenance > Assume User ID

The Assume User ID browse shows all users whose prime group is listed in the SY/SURGROUPS parameter, and who are not Root users. (If you are logged in as SYSAdmin, it shows all users.)

Assume User ID Browse

Field

Description

User ID

The ID of the Coins ERP+ user.
This field links to:
Assume User

User Name

The name of the user or group with this ID.

Prime Group

The first group for this user.
Other users who belong to this group (that is, have this group in their group list) will be able to see this user's reports, post their batches, etc., if they have a higher security level than (or - depending on configuration - the same security level as) this user.
The parameter SY/EQACCESS determines whether users with the same security level can post each other's batches.
See Batch and Print Security.

Email

The email address of the user.

By following the link in the User ID column, you will be presented with an encoded URL that you can open in a separate InPrivate window (if you're using Edge) or Incognito window (if you're using Chrome), which will log you in as that user.

Assume User Link

The link is valid for 30 seconds only. Your name is recorded in the log file for each action you perform whilst logged in as the other user.

If the user is currently logged in, Coins ERP+ issues a warning message. Click OK to proceed.

Related Parameters

SY/EQACCESS - Allow Users of Equal Priority

To allow users in the same group and with the same security level to maintain each others batches and print requests, set this to Y. To allow only users with a higher security level to maintain other users batches and print requests, set this to N.

SY/SUGROUPS - Substitute User Groups Allowed

A can-do list of the prime groups that can be assumed by the support user using Assume User ID.

This can be used to prevent a support user from assuming certain key users. SYSAdmin user and root group are both banned from being assumed. SYSAdmin user can assume any other user.
