Updated over a month ago

The information in this section describes the Cost Forecast View in the CVR module.

Cost Forecast View Type Option

A Cost Forecast View option is available on the Add Type combo in CVR Models > Views, as shown in Cost Forecast View Type Option.

Cost Forecast View Type Option

When you select the Cost Forecast Type, you are presented with the Properties screen, as shown in Cost Forecast View Type Properties.

Cost Forecast View Type Properties

Field Definitions (Selected)

Report Field Set

The Report Field Set field is populated using Report Fields Sets defined for the Cost Forecast Report section. It determines the look of a printed form if the View is selected for printing in the standard CVR Print selection. Standard Set is the default option, but the field can be left blank. If left blank, printing of that Forecast View is not possible, and you receive a warning to that effect.

Report Sort 1-4

The Report Sort fields are for the standard Cost Code CVR View. You can use them to select sorting options used in the generated report and PDR output form when printing from the CVR Workbench.

Cost Forecast View Browse

Standard fields in CVR Models > Views > Cost Forecast View (such as Actual Costs, Commitments, and Accruals) are supported with links to the appropriate enquiries as per existing Budget Input functionality.

This View can be updateable (if the Update flag is set in View Setup) or read-only (if the Update flag is not set or CVR Completed). If the View is set up for Update:

  • Open, Multiple Update, Concurrent Update, and Bulk actions can be used; and

  • You cannot Add, Insert, Copy, or Delete records.

Browse Columns

  • CVR Period is the Financial Date.

  • Total Commitment = Incurred Cost + System Accruals + Manual Accruals + Remaining Commitments

  • All columns are based on a Significant Item; if a Significant Item is not defined on the CVR Model, the columns do not appear.

  • The generation of User Defined Fields adds fields from the custom page section as defined in the parameter CV/CFUDFRMP.

Browse Filtering and Sorting

The following apply for sorting on this View:

  • Sort options are available on all fields populated from a Cost Code (Code, Description, Category, Forecast Input setup, WBS, Section, Activity codes, Analysis, etc.).

  • All numeric database fields of the CVR Items are sortable.

Named Filters on this View are the following:

  • Open status of the Cost Code: All, Open

  • Input Method: All, Hours, Qty, Value

  • Enter By setting on the Cost Code: At Completion, To Complete, % Complete

Browse Filters are available for the following fields:

Browse Actions

The following browse actions are available in the Cost Forecast View:

  • Enter At Completion

  • Enter To Complete

  • Enter %Complete

These actions can be applied to multiple rows; when run, they change the Enter By option on the selected rows.

Row Updates

Updating on-screen Cost Forecast rows (either single or concurrent) is performed as described below.

When you open a row for updating, the fields that are enabled depend on the Input Method of the Cost Code (Category) and the Enter By option set on the Cost Code (Category).

On rows using the Hours Input method, you can enter Hours using At Complete, To Complete, or Percent Complete values as the row is configured, and you can enter a Rate to apply for the remaining Hours. If Multiple Categories per Cost Code are used, the Hours and Quantity fields and values are visible on all rows, but they can only be edited if the Input Type is Hours Input or Quantity Input as defined on the Cost Code.

Breakdown Items

The Significant Items listed below are used in the Forecast at Completion calculations and shown as fields in the Column Sets of the Cost Forecast browse. Note: They are not available for direct input.

  • Manual Accruals and Adjustments

  • Management Adjustments

  • Materials on/off Site

If any of the above Significant Items are defined as Manual Breakdown Items, fields on the Cost Forecast browse include drill down links. When drilled down, you can enter breakdown lines.

Current Forecast Fields

The following Cost Forecast fields are populated directly from the Current Forecast Budget:

  • Cost (To Date)

  • Hours (To Date)

  • Qty (To Date)

  • Change in Cost (This Period)

  • Change in Hours (This Period)

  • Change in Qty (This Period)

Cost Forecast Record Save

When a Cost Forecast row is saved, values in the record are recalculated as per user input, then stored to the mapped Significant Items. All other CVR Items are then saved.

The Cost Forecast row can contain two types of input fields:

  • Fixed input fields - defined on the Body and Column sets (Rate, Forecast At/To Complete, %Complete).

  • Standard CVR Items - not included in the fixed set of columns (Management Adjustments, etc.).

If JC/USECCCAT is set to Used or All, any Hours/Qty Based rows on the Cost Code are updated and recalculated when the Hours (or Qty) Input row for that Cost Code is saved with changed Hours (or Qty).

Note: The Cost Forecast View row allows Cost Code (Category) CVR Items to be saved from User Defined fields.

Cost Forecast Recalculation

If any Significant Items are changed (such as a new value is entered by the user or is recalculated), the corresponding Cost Forecast row is also recalculated.

This recalculation updates the values for Forecast at Completion Significant Items. All other CVR Items that depend on Forecast at Completion Significant Items are also included.

Cost Forecast View Validation

The following validations are used for the Cost Foreast View:

  • You cannot add more than one Cost Forecast View.

  • You can add the Cost Forecast View only if the CVR Model is compatible with the Significant CVR Items setup.

  • Validations are run on View Add.

  • You cannot save an updateable View if the Significant Items setup is not valid.

CVR Items

The following CVR Item validation is available if the Breakdown option is changed to Yes on the Cost Code or Cost Code - Category CVR Item: If CV/ITEMMODL is set to Y, the Cost Forecast View is used in the CVR Model, and the Item is used as a Significant Item for Forecast At Completion Cost, Qty, or Hrs, then the Item cannot be saved with the Breakdown option set to Y.
