General Ledger Allocation – Configuration

Updated over a month ago

Parameters

The following General Ledger parameters allow for GL Allocations.

GL/ALLMETH

GL allocation methods

The Allocation Method(s) to be used for job or overhead allocation. These determine which methods are available when creating new allocation types (using Allocation Types).

The Allocation Methods are:

GF = Fixed GL Allocations.

GV = Uses allocations based on GL account balances.

JC = Costs based on cost codes for specific jobs.

JR = Revenue based on specific jobs.

JV = Allow allocation of GL/JC amounts to jobs.

Default is blank.

GL/ALLTYPE

GL Allocation Transaction Type

The transaction type used when processing GL allocations.

Allocation Codes

Group Allocation Codes

Group Allocation Codes on the General Ledger menu lets you set up groups of Allocation Types to assist in processing General Ledger allocations. You can group similar allocations so that you can run them at the same time. For example, if you have five different allocations you do monthly for Overhead Expenses to GL Divisions, and seven that you do for job burden, you could set them up with group codes GL01 and JC01 and run them in two groups by entering the group codes in GL Allocations Processing.

Job Allocation Codes

Job Allocation Codes on the General Ledger menu lets you set up codes which can be used to match specific jobs to receive an allocation, when filtering based on job group and job type is not granular enough.

The Allocation Code field on the job record stores the Allocation Code for the job.

The Allocation Code field is in the Information panel on the Main section in Jobs, or on the Configuration tab in Jobs - Tab View.

For example, if all your jobs in Washington State get a 1% allocation due to business and occupation (B&O) tax, you could set up a job allocation code BOTAX, assign that code to the relevant jobs in Job Status > Jobs, then create an allocation type for the 1% tax and set the Job Allocation Type field to BOTAX.
