CVR Data Storage

Updated over a week ago

CVR functionality includes options to improve database storage (primarily database size) and maintain and analyse the CVR data.

CVR Data Storage - CVR Models

The Options menu on the CVR Models screen includes a CVR Storage Analysis menu item. When selected, you are taken to a CVR Storage Analysis Screen. You can use this screen to generate a detailed CVR Storage Analysis Report for the current CVR Model, which is detailed in Section CVR Data Storage - CVR Storage Analysis.

CVR > Setup > CVR Models.

CVR Data Storage - CVR Model Diagnosis Submenu

A CVR Model Diagnosis submenu is found under the CVR Administration menu, as shown in CVR Model Diagnosis Submenu.

The items found on this submenu are:

  • CVR Items Usage Report - previously existed on Administration menu

  • CVR Styles Usage Report - previously existed on Administration menu

  • CVR Storage Analysis - item that allows you to select CVR Models and generate a CVR Storage Analysis Report, which is detailed in Section CVR Data Storage - CVR Storage Analysis.

CVR Data Storage - CVR Storage Analysis

You can use the CVR Storage Analysis option on the CVR > Administration > CVR Model Diagnosis submenu to report on data storage for CVR Models. The report is sorted and grouped by Model, Period, CVR Item, and Type.

Report Selection Screen

When you select the CVR Storage Analysis option, a selection screen appears, as shown in CVR Storage Analysis Selection Screen.

CVR Storage Analysis Selection Screen

You can select a range of CVR Models to report on from the current company or a company specified in the CV/KCOMODEL parameter.

You can select a range of periods to report on.

Report Sample

The CVR Storage Analysis Report displays the list of records grouped together for each selected CVR Model and its CVR Items. A sample report is shown in CVR Storage Analysis Report Sample.

CVR Storage Analysis Report Sample

  • Highlighted in the report sample above is the summary of information included on the report for each CVR Model. This information displays the following:

    • Contracts - the number of Contracts using the Model.

    • Number of Items in use - the number of CVR Items used in the Model.

    • Number of CVRs - the number of CVRs in the selected Periods.

  • Report Detail shows a list of Item values ordered by Usage (either Detail, CVR, or Breakdown). The Detail row contains an overall count of the database records, split by Displayed, Snapshot, and Completed Contracts.

CVR Data Storage - Purge CVRs

CVRs previously could only be deleted manually from the Contract CVRs screen. This was an extremely time consuming and inconvenient process since each Contract had to be visited. To resolve this, a Purge CVRs menu option is available on the CVR > Administration menu, as shown in Purge CVRs Menu Item.

Selection Screen

Once the menu option is selected, it displays the selection screen shown in Purge CVRs Selection Screen.

The periods that can be entered are:

  • From: The first CVR Period in the Company.

  • To: The latest period allowed for purging.

The default for this field is unticked. When unticked, Enquiry data is not purged, and backup is created for part of the data from the purged CVR. When ticked, Enquiry data is deleted, and no backup is created.

When this option is selected, the data to be purged is checked only but not deleted.

When this option is selected, the CVR records in the entered range of Periods are purged. Completed CVRs cannot be purged if they are potentially required for CVR (BPF) Enquiries and Reports; you therefore cannot select a To Period later than the last period of the previous Financial Year. Contract completion validation is run at the stage of processing CVRs.

Once the Next button is clicked for this field, the following warning message appears: "Do you really want to proceed with permanent deletion?" If Yes, processing permanently removes the selected CVRs. If No, processing does not continue.

Report Sample

A sample of the Purge CVRs report that is generated is shown in Purge CVRs Report Sample.

  • The report title area at the top contains the Mode (either Check or Delete) and the selected range of Periods.

  • It is sorted by Contract., then by Model.

  • An Overall Purged field at the end of the report shows the overall number of deleted CVRs.

CVR Filtering and Sorting

CVR Browse Views previously could only be filtered and sorted using source table fields (e.g., Cost Code Section, WBS Code, etc.). You can also filter and sort by CVR Items (for example, to show Cost Codes with forecast revenue > $100K).

Configuration

The CV/ITEMFILT parameter lets you decide whether to allow CVR Items to be filtered and sorted.

CV/ITEMFILT - Allow Filtering and Sorting on CVR Items?

Whether to allow Filtering and Sorting on CVR Items.

To set up a list of CVR Items, use CVR Models.

Details Tab

Two fields, List of Items for Enhanced Filtering and List of Items for Enhanced Sorting, appear on the Setup > CVR Models > Details tab if parameter CV/ITEMFILT is set to Y.

List of Items for Enhanced Filtering

Use this field to enter up to 10 CVR Item codes.

List of Items for Enhanced Sorting

Since the information in this field directly corresponds with the information in the List of Items for Enhanced Filtering field, it is automatically filled in when CVR Item codes are entered in that field. It is therefore a View only field.

Fields Tab

A Sort field is found on the Setup > CVR Models > Fields tab.

Add New CVR

Each time a new CVR is created, new fields cvs_filt_items, cvs_filt_map are populated from the cmh_filt_items and cmh_filt_map fields in CVR Models. You cannot change these fields after the CVR is saved if parameter CV/ITEMFILT is set to Y.
