Triggers allow you to keep track of when events related to plant or vehicle assets are due. You can automatically update hourly and daily triggers for plant which is on hire.
For example, suppose you have a plant item which you want to inspect when it has been on hire for 60 days or more. Using Asset Maintenance.

You should update the daily (and hourly) triggers periodically, and before reporting on trigger expiry dates, for example. This will update the value of the trigger; when this value reaches (or exceeds) the Expires value (60 in this example), the trigger will fire, and will appear on the Asset Triggers Report.
To update triggers:
Go to Update plant On hire Triggers to update the same trigger. You could have different triggers that use the different methods; so you could use TRIGHOUR to drive hourly-based servicing, and have a trigger for off hire inspection status updated by a caption.
Enquiring and Reporting on Triggers
Trigger Enquiry shows the assets on which the selected trigger has been specified. You can filter on those assets on which the trigger has been set off.
Fixed Assets > Reports > Operational Reports > Asset Triggers allows you to produce a report that shows which events are due by reporting on expired triggers. You can report on events that will become due in the future by entering a different date to use. You can produce a word-processing merge file containing the data.

Resetting Triggers
You can reset a trigger when the event to which the trigger refers (such as the service) has been completed. This prepares it to track the next occurrence of the event.
Resetting a trigger clears the Off tickbox (so the trigger is not expired) and resets the Expires field or the current value (depending on the definition of the trigger).
To reset a trigger manually:
Open the asset.
On the Triggers tab, select the trigger(s) you want to reset.
In the action menu, choose Reset Trigger and click Apply Action.
Resetting triggers using workshop cost heads
Coins ERP+ automatically resets triggers which are specified by cost head elements when a transaction is posted to the cost code. You can use the cost head elements in different ways to control which triggers Coins ERP+ resets.
For example, you might want to reset triggers according to the reason for the work, so that the triggers for cam-belt change and filter change are reset for a 30,000 mile service, and oil change is set for all services. Assuming you have three elements set up as above, you could set up the trigger list on the first element (parts) to include the trigger for that item; the replace activity for the second element to reset all triggers, and the 30,000 mile service reason for the 3rd element to reset the triggers for cam-belt, filter change and oil change.
The trigger list for other services would include oil change.
