Troubleshoot Forecast Workbench issues in COINS ERP+

Resolve common issues in the Forecast Workbench, including missing forecast data, Set Element Value errors, construction programme dates not populating and forecast regeneration after data changes.

This article covers common issues in the Forecast Workbench and related CVR forecasting screens. For a guide to setting up and using the Forecast Workbench, see Forecast Workbench.

No current forecast period available

If the Forecast Workbench opens but no forecast period is available, or a forecast shows no data despite sites and models being configured, the most likely cause is that the Period Mapping tab has not been configured for the forecast model.

  1. Go to Forecast Models.

  2. Open the relevant forecast model.

  3. Select the Period Mapping tab.

  4. Confirm that forecast periods have been mapped. If the tab is empty, add the required periods.

  5. Return to the Forecast Workbench and regenerate the forecast.

📌Note: Period Mapping must be configured after a new forecast model is created. Without it, the Forecast Workbench cannot populate period columns and will appear empty even when sites and data sources are correctly set up.

Forecast data not updating after a data change

Forecast values in the Forecast Workbench do not update automatically when underlying data changes — for example, after a reservation is cancelled, a GL period is updated, or a significant item is amended. A manual regeneration is required.

Regenerate the forecast

  1. Open the Forecast Workbench.

  2. Go to Options.

  3. Select Regenerate Forecast.

  4. Wait for the regeneration to complete, then refresh the workbench view.

📌Note: After a reservation cancellation, extras and incentives may update immediately on the Sales Forecast, but the main forecast totals will not reflect the change until Regenerate Forecast is run. This is expected behaviour — the regeneration step is required each time underlying plot or reservation data changes.

GL reporting periods not appearing in the CVR forecast matrix

If GL reporting periods are missing from the CVR forecasting matrix, run the regeneration process to populate them. If periods remain missing after regeneration, confirm that the GL periods exist and are open in the relevant KCO before running the process again.

'Set Element Value' is not visible or returns an error

The Set Element Value bulk action is only available after the matrix is open and at least one row or cell is selected. If the option is missing or returns an error, work through the following checks.

Set Element Value not visible in the menu

  1. Click the Open button (folder icon) at the bottom of the screen to open the matrix view. Set Element Value is only available from inside the matrix — it does not appear on the main workbench screen.

  2. Once the matrix is open, tick at least one cell or row before selecting Choose Element Action? or Choose Matrix Action?.

  3. If the option is still not visible, confirm the user has the Forecasting → Forecast Matrix function access right. Without this permission, the matrix view and its actions are not available.

Error: 'Select just one row'

This error appears when the Choose Element Action? option is used with multiple rows selected, but the action requires a single-row context. To apply a value to multiple rows at once, use Choose Matrix Action? instead of Choose Element Action?

  1. Click the Open button to open the matrix.

  2. Tick all the rows you want to update.

  3. Select Set Element Value from Choose Matrix Action? (not Choose Element Action?).

  4. Enter the required value and date range.

  5. Click the forward arrow to apply, then save.

📌Note: Choose Element Action? applies to single selected cells. Choose Matrix Action? applies the same value across all selected rows over a specified time period. Use Matrix Action for bulk updates.

Construction programme dates not populating on the forecast matrix

If applying a construction programme from the Forecast Matrix results in no entries populating, the cause is usually that no initial date has been set on the relevant plots before the bulk application.

  1. Enter at least one date manually on the affected plot or stage before attempting to apply the programme.

  2. Select the plots individually rather than using the bulk apply, which requires at least one date to exist before it can cascade the remaining dates.

  3. After setting the initial date and applying successfully to individual plots, retry the bulk programme application.

⚠️Important: The 'Apply to whole matrix' option requires at least one anchor start or end date to be set on the selected stage. Without an anchor date, the programme has no reference point and no entries will populate.

Forecast values configured in one view are missing from another

If a configured view — such as a cost category, subcontract cost, or summary row — is visible in one forecast view but missing from another (for example, subcontractor costs appear in Development Maintenance but not in the Cost Forecast View), the view configuration requires updating.

  1. Go to Forecast Models.

  2. Open the relevant model and select the affected view (for example, Cost Forecast View).

  3. Check whether all required cost items are included in the view configuration.

  4. If a cost item is missing — such as a subcontract cost category — add it to the Cost Forecast View configuration.

  5. Regenerate the forecast after saving the configuration change.

CVR locked — error CV160

Error CV160 appears when a CVR is fully locked and cannot be reopened or marked as incomplete. This is a known issue in COINS ERP+ that has been addressed in maintenance updates.

If you receive CV160 on a CVR that should be editable, raise a support ticket. Include the CVR reference, the contract number, and the error message. Reference CV160 in your ticket so it can be routed to the correct team.

📌Note: If your environment is not on the latest maintenance update for your version, installing the current updates may resolve this error. Ask support to confirm which update addresses CV160 for your version.

Accidental overwrite of forecast data

If forecast values have been overwritten accidentally — for example, by copying a Revised Budget over the Current Forecast — the only recovery option is a full database restore. It is not possible to selectively restore individual forecast matrix rows or date entries from a backup.

⚠️Important: The Undo Changes option in COINS ERP+ only works within the current session. Once the session is closed, changes cannot be undone. If data has been overwritten and the session is still open, use Undo Changes immediately before saving or closing. If the session has already been closed, raise a support ticket to discuss database restore options.

Raise a support ticket

Raise a support ticket if:

  • The forecast workbench remains empty after configuring Period Mapping and regenerating.

  • Forecast values do not update after regeneration when underlying data has changed.

  • Set Element Value is not available after confirming the matrix is open and the user has the correct function access.

  • Construction programme dates do not populate after setting an initial anchor date.

  • You receive error CV160 on a CVR that should be editable.

  • Forecast data has been overwritten and Undo Changes is no longer available.

Include the forecast model name, the contract or development reference, the screen or view where the issue occurs, and the exact error message if one is shown.
